BR-22 ThGarden Party and Sixpence

The weather was ideal. There could not have been a more perfect day for a garden party. Windness, warm, the sky without a cloud. And the blue was thinly covered with a haze of light gold, as it is sometimes in early summer. (p.11) There are two stories. The Garden Party depicts the psychological growth of the character. I can not understand the story of Sixpence well. So I suggest to read the former one. Mansfield, Katherine. (2007). The Garden Party and Sixpence. Helbling languages.

BR-21 The Last of the Mohicans

Magua travelled for two hours from Fort William Henry. The Indian brave ran most of  the way, through thick forests and along hidden paths, to reach Fort Edward. He had important news from Colonel Munro for General Webb, Fort Edward's British commander. (p.13) This is a story of France and Britain fighting for the United States. It was interesting because there are battles between tribes and there are scenes where characters fell in love. Cooper, F. James. (2008). The Last of the Mohicans, Helbling Languages.

BR-20 Red Water

On Thursday 12th May two apparently unrelated things happened within the same minutes in two very different parts of the world. "What's extraordinary..." says Tricia, looking back at that moment. (p.11) This is a story where an accidental event has involved two characters in an incident. It was interesting to read this because an unrealistic event happened. Moses, Antoinette. (2007). Red Water. Helbling Languages.

In the little town of Vevey, in Switzerland, there is a most comfortable hotel, which is seated upon the edge of a clear blue lake. The shore of the lake has a range of establishments of this type. (p.11) This is a story depicting the differences between American and European culture through the relationship with a man and a woman. In addition, this is a story about the character who falls in love with Daisy's beauty so I was jealous of his innocence. James, Henry. (2007). Daisy Miller. Helbling Languages.

BR-18 The Woman in Black

My name is Arthur Kipps. when I was a young man, I worked in London. I was a solicitor. I worked for the same company all my life. Fourteen years ago, I bought this house called Monk's Piece. I live here with my dear wife, Esme'. Esme's first husband had died. She was a widow when I married her. I became the father of her four young children. Our years at Monk's Piece have been happy ones. (p.5) His story which he experienced is very horrible. He experienced to see a hollow woman and listen to the screams of children on the land where he visited to work. I hate scary stories because I sometimes feel ghosts and hear strange sounds. BR-17 The Happy Prince and The Nightingale and the Rose

High above the city, on a tall column, stands the state of the Happy Prince. He is covered all over with thin leaves of gold, for eyes he has two bright sapphires, and there is a large red ruby on his sword. (p.11) There are two stories in the same book. The former is the story of a prince with ego dedicated to those who struggle with a nephew, and the latter is the love story of Nightingale. The rose that appeared in the latter story symbolized insatiableness. I suggest these stories to my friends. Wilde, Oscar. (2007). The Happy Prince and The Nightingale and the Rose. BR-16 The Stolen White Elephant

I heard the following curious story from a railway acquaintance. He was a gentleman of more than seventy years of age, and his good face and sincere manner put the stamp of truth on eveything he said. (p.11) I think that suddenly an elephant disappears, people living in the place may feel scared because sometimes elephants are violent. In this story, someone stole the elephant. I want to know how to do it. In addition, I want to know how much is it if I buy an elephant. Twain, Mark. (2007). The Stolen White Elephant. Helbling Readers Classics..
